Amos – 2nd Degree BB

Major congratulations to Amos for his promotion to 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo.

Amos has been studying Martial Arts for a long time. His involvement in our dojo has been intermittent because of other commitments he was honoring regarding his work and family. It has been nice to have him around more consistently the last few months.

Amos is a treasure for us. He really has extraordinary perception and insight regarding Martial Art technique. For years, even if I didn’t know exactly what I was doing, Amos would step in and point out that “this is what GM Frank is doing” to make a technique work. I love that about him.

This picture also captures another whole element of my relationship with Amos and his family. I used to have a picture on the wall in the dojo of all of these kiddos when they were about 1/3 the size and age that they are now. The point is that I have a long-standing history with his family and I love them.

Part of Amos’s agreement with us regarding his advancement was to help us create a 2nd Degree Black Belt curriculum. That ought to be fun and interesting to see where it leads.

Again … congrats Amos … you very much deserve the promotion.
